To address critical financing gaps in underserved communities, we pioneered a $180M fund combining flexible loans with capacity-building grants to CDFIs nationwide. This innovative public-private partnership with the U.S. Treasury empowered local lenders to deploy $1.6B across 131,000 small businesses - with 56% going to minority-owned and 37% to women-owned enterprises - creating a new model for corporate investment in community development.

The Last Mile
To tackle high recidivism rates in the prison system, we helped launch The Last Mile's first coding academy outside California with a $2M grant to Indiana's juvenile facilities. This innovative program teaches incarcerated youth valuable coding skills without internet access, creating pathways to technology careers and achieving a 0% recidivism rate among graduates.

To combat racial disparities in policing, we partnered with the Center for Policing Equity to create the Justice Navigator, the nation's first data platform tracking police behavior. Bay Area Housing
To address the severe housing shortage affecting long-time middle and low-income residents in the Bay Area, we launched a groundbreaking $1 billion initiative to increase housing supply. Through repurposing $750 million of Google's land for residential use and creating a $250 million investment fund, we're enabling the development of 20,000 new homes while testing innovative approaches like direct cash transfers to prevent homelessness - creating a new model for how companies can help solve the housing crisis.

Connecting Rural America
To strengthen digital infrastructure in underserved rural and tribal communities, we launched a $10M initiative with the National Digital Inclusion Alliance to establish local digital navigator programs in 18 locations nationwide. This community-driven model pairs trusted local leaders with residents to provide personalized support for internet access, device usage, and digital skills, helping thousands of families participate fully in the digital economy.

Google's First Community Space
To address the challenge of rising real estate costs pushing nonprofits out of San Francisco, we created Google's first-ever community hub at our Embarcadero office. Through an innovative 13,000-square-foot coworking and event space, we've provided over 3,000 Bay Area nonprofits with free access to workspace, meeting rooms, and collaborative opportunities - creating a new model for how companies can share resources to strengthen local communities.

EJI: Lynching in America Project
To help America address its legacy of racial terror, we partnered with the Equal Justice Initiative to create the Lynching in America digital platform. This groundbreaking project digitized research on over 4,000 racial terror lynchings, combining oral histories and data visualization to educate millions. As EJI's sole corporate partner at launch, we helped transform how Americans understand this history and its ongoing impact.

An Archaeology of Silence
To address the urgent need for healing and dialogue around systemic violence against Black communities, we partnered with the de Young Museum and Live Free USA on a groundbreaking cultural initiative. Through a $2M grant supporting Kehinde Wiley's 'An Archaeology of Silence' exhibition, we enabled free museum access, community grief workshops, and a dynamic speaker series featuring cultural leaders and artists - creating new pathways for art institutions to advance racial justice through collective healing and action.

Latino Nonprofit Accelerator
To address the severe underinvestment in Latino-led organizations, which receive only 1.1% of national philanthropic dollars, we partnered with the Latino Community Foundation to create California's first tech-inspired nonprofit accelerator. Through a $1M grant and innovative capacity-building program, we've helped Latino-led nonprofits secure over $2.5M in new funding while creating a model for effective nonprofit investment that combines startup methodologies with cultural empowerment.

To address the growing teen mental health crisis, we partnered with Selena Gomez's Rare Impact Fund and leading nonprofits on a $10M initiative bringing mental health resources directly to classrooms. By combining teacher training with direct funding for school projects, this innovative program is reaching one million high school students and 10,000 teachers nationwide, creating safer spaces for mental wellness.

Digital Wellbeing for Kids
To help kids build safe and healthy relationships with technology, we partnered with Highlights Magazine to reach over 1 million young readers with internet safety education. Through a $20M initiative that includes collaborations with Sesame Workshop and Boys & Girls Clubs, this program is teaching digital citizenship to children nationwide, with special focus on underserved communities receiving 250,000 free copies.

Bay Area Rising STEM Scholars
To create more inclusive pathways into technology, we invested $11M across two flagship education initiatives in the Bay Area: The Rising STEM Scholars Initiative, which doubled Black and Latino enrollment in AP STEM courses, and The Hidden Genius Project, which provides intensive coding and entrepreneurship training to young Black men. Together, these programs are transforming how students see themselves in tech while building concrete skills for the future.
